Completed in the spring of 2010, The Lochwood Library sculptures were created for the city of Dallas Library's newest branch. The two works, made of 3 Form Varia Ecoresin were designed and fabricated to compliment the unusual design of the the new space, its function and spirit.
The entryway sculpture, consisting of five intertwining strands is decorated with the poetry of William Blake's first poem from the "Songs of Innocence". The Main hall sculpture, spanning the length of the library consists of 20 similar strands, each decorated in a different major contemporary writing system.
With the building being a LEED certified structure, it was only fitting to choose a material that was of a minimal environmental impact. Each strand is cut and hand worked from a custom drawn sheet of 3 Form Varia, which is made of no less than 40% post-industrial waste, and is GreenGuard certified.
